Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya states that, those who hand over nominations without the aim of contesting the General Election but with the aim of supporting other political parties or candidates will not be able to realize their intentions.

Releasing a communiqué, the Election Commissioner reiterated that he would not allow anyone to hand over their nominations under the ticket of a political party or an independent group with the sole intention of supporting another.

In addition, a candidate who hands over the nominations under the ticket of a political party or an independent group will not be allowed to use their respective propaganda office for campaigning on behalf of another candidate.

In addition, the Election Commissioner said that such persons would not be allowed to act as polling booth representatives either.

Furthermore, the communiqué released by the Election Commissioner stated that a political party or independent group contesting will not be allowed to conduct propaganda campaigns for another candidate or a party.
