Prime Minister's special statement tomorrow
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasingha is scheduled to make a special statement tomorrow regarding the current political situation in the country.
The statement will be issued at the party head quarters siri kotha tomorrow morning.
A meeting between President Maithreepala Sirisena and a group of his supporters was held yesterday at former President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s resident.
A SLPF senior minister told our news team that the prevailing political situation and the future of the SLFP have been discussed in the meeting.
At the same time, former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has requested President Maithreepala Sirisena to give nominations to all MPs who are attached to the alliance.
Former MP T.B. Ekanayake told our news team that copies of this letter by former president Rajapaksa have been sent to SLFP General Secretary and UPFA General Secretary as well.
However, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa told our news team that his party has already decided to give the nominations together with the UPFA.
