There are no 2 factions in the SLFP: No conditions as well: final nominations after 2 days
The SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadharshana Yapa says that the UPFA, led by SLFP would finalize its nomination list within the next two days.
Addressing a media conference held in Colombo this morning, he said that there are neither two factions nor conditions imposed by one person on the other within the party.
At this moment, journalists enquired whether nominations would be given to those who have been charged for corruption or financial misappropriations.
Answering journalists, SLFP General Secretary Yapa said that he did not accept the word “corruptors”.
He said, if somebody is charged for corruption, there should be a court verdict.
Meanwhile, Minister Duminda Dissanayake who represents President Maithripala Sirisena’s faction told our news team that the President has not endorsed the SLFP nomination list yet.
At the same time, a meeting was presided by former president Mahinda Rajapaksa at his Mirihana residence this morning.
Several former MPs who represent Mahinda Rajapaksa faction including Dinesh Gunawardena, Bandula Gunawardane, Salinda Dissanayake, Kumara Welgama and T. B. Ekanayake were present in the meeting.
One of the participants told our news team that disputes in the SLFP nomination list was discussed in the meeting held at former president’s residence.
