The Election Secretariat stated that postal voting would be held on August 5th  and 6th

An additional date on August 3rd has been allocated for school teachers to cast their postal votes. 

Deputy Election Commissioner M.M. Mohammad told our news team that the deadline for submitting applications of postal votes to the returning officers would be on 14th of July, while the deadline for certifying the postal voting register would be on the 22nd of July.

In addition, post offices will send postal voting packets to relevant postal voters on the 24th.

Today is the third day of receiving nominations. 

61 independent groups have deposited bonds by yesterday. 

Deputy Election Commissioner M.M. Mohammad told our news team that nominations would not be accepted on Saturday and Sunday, therefore receiving nominations would conclude at 2pm on July 13th.

At the same time, Election Commissioner issued a notice, citing that proof of identification is mandatory for voters to cast their vote.

Valid identifications are National Identification Card, Passport, Driving License, State Service Pensioners ID, Elders’ ID, Priests’ ID and Temporary IDs issued by the Election Commission during the Presidential election.

The Election Secretariat stated that the marking of postal votes for the General Election will be held on the 5th and 6th of August.

In addition, the 3rd of August has been allocated for the teachers to mark their postal votes.
