Former LTTE cadres to contest the Election
A group of rehabilitated former LTTE cadres has decided to contest independently in the forthcoming general election.
Earlier, this group sought nominations from the TNA, and they have decided to contest independently after the TNA denied them nominations.
Meanwhile, TNA former MP M.A. Sumanthiran explained to our news team the reason for his party to deny nominations for the former LTTE cadres.
He stated that they have received information concerning a connection to intelligence troops and that they feel it would hinder the process of seeking a political solution for the country.
He added that a decision should be taken after considering all matters, however, they cannot take a sudden decision pertaining to the forthcoming General Election.
Nevertheless, the rehabilitated former LTTE cadres stated that they would field independent candidates only for Wanni and Jaffna districts.
Former LTTE cadre independent group representative Vidyatharan told our news team that they would not carry out campaign against the TNA and will contest under their independent party - Crusaders for Democracy ticket.
