Arjuna, Rajitha, MKDS have not signed in UPFA nominations as yet;
The UPFA former MPs Arjuna Ranatunga, Rajitha Senarathna, M.K.D.S. Gunawardana and Duminda Dissanayake, who pledged support for President Maithripala Sirisena at the very first of the presidential poll, have not signed in their nomination papers as yet.
Political sources reported that the first group to support president Maithripala had a special discussion today in Colombo.
Meanwhile, the maiden media conference organized by the National Front for Good Governance was also cancelled this morning. Minister Champika Ranawaka, Athuraliye Rathana Thera and several party members were scheduled to participate in the conference.
When our news team contacted Athuraliye Rathana Thera said his talks with the UNP to contest the election under one alliance was not concluded.
The Thera also said that he would meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe tomorrow to continue the discussion.
At the same time, it is reported to our news team that several MPs who pledged support to President Maithripala Sirisena have not signed in their nominations as yet.
However, the president has appointed Minister Duminda Dissanayake as chief organizer of the Kalawewa electorate. Earlier, Kalawewa chief organizer was former MP S.M. Chandrasena.
In addition, Minister Duminda Dissanayake has been appointed as the district leader of the Anuradhapura district.
