Update : Maha Sangha, Artists and a large crowd stage protest in front of SLFP headquarters and Mahaweli Centre demanding nominations for Dumindha Silva
A large gathering including the Maha Sangha and artistes engaged in demonstration in front of SLFP headquarters at Darley Road and Mahaweli Center yesterday, demanding nominations for former MP R. Dumindha Silva.
They reiterated that the Former MP who was committed towards serving the helpless people must be given nominations.
The protestors also met with the General Secretary of the UPFA.
The demonstrators started the campaign first from Ibbanwala junction and marched towards the SLFP headquarters at Darley Road.
Later the group arrived at the Mahaweli Centre with the objective of handing over a sandeshaya to the General Secretary of the UPFA Susil Premajayanth.
One of the demonstrators who demanded nominations for former MP R. Duminda Silva, Kiriibbanaare Vijitha Thera said that he met UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha.
Meanwhile former MP R. Dumindha Silva who was present at the Mahaweli Center where UPFA nomination papers were signed stated that people were waiting for him to contest.
The double standards followed when awarding nominations in the UPFA was even discussed during the ‘BALAYA’ political program telecast on Hiru TV.
