UNP, UPFA, JVP and TNA start handing over nominations
Several political parties including UNP, UPFA, JVP and TNA have handed over their party nominations today.
UNP has handed over its nominations for the Jaffna district at the Jaffna District Secretariat this afternoon.
The nominations were handed over by former MP Vijayakala Maheswaran.
Several UNP candidates have signed in their nomination papers at the party headquarters Sirikotha this morning.
Meanwhile, Minister John Amaratunga would function as the Gampaha district leader of the UNP.
Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam who is to contest from the Kurunegala district also signed in his nomination papers today.
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader Nimal Siripala de Silva handed over his party nominations for the Badulla district this morning.
At the same time, several UPFA candidates signed in their nominations at the Mahaweli Center this morning.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa signed his nomination papers at the Mahaweli Center to contest from the Hambantota district.
Western Provincial council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has also signed in his nomination papers this morning to contest the general election for Gampaha district under the UPFA ticket.
Meanwhile, JVP has handed over nominations this morning for the districts of Kalutara, Puttalam, Polonnaruwa, and Vavuniya.
TNA also under Ilangai Arasu Kachchi handed over nominations for Jaffna, Vavuniya, and Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts.
Meanwhile, Frontline Socialist party propaganda secretary Pubudu Jayagoda said that his party has completed handing over nominations to all districts.
At the same time, the Democratic Party handed over its nominations for Kalutara, Kegalle, Matale, Kurunegala, Kandy, Ratnapura and Hambantota districts this morning.
In addition, EPDP said to be handed over nominations for Jaffna, Vavuniya and Trincomalee districts.
Meanwhile, All Ceylon Muslim Tamil Congress has given nomination for Trincomalee district while Okkoma Rajavaru Okkoma Wasiyo party has handover over nominations for Kandy district.
At the same time, United Peoples party has handed over nominations for Kegalle district.
