Handing over of nominations for the General Election ends at 12 noon today: Special police security around district secretariats
Accepting of Nominations for the general election ends at 12 noon today.
By now 195 Independent Groups have placed deposits for the general election.
Similarly issuing a communiqué the Election Secretariat said that by now 39 parties and independent groups had handed over nominations.
Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya requested that handing over nominations be carried out as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, a special traffic plan will be in operation today in Colombo as it is the last day to hand over nominations for the upcoming general election.
The police informed that a special transport arrangement will be in operation around the Election Secretariat today.
The transport arrangement will be in operation from 7 AM today until 3.00 PM.
It will cover the Baseline Road, Signal Light Junction in the Havelock Road up to Narahenpita Junction, Udyana Para to Elvitigala Signal lights, Nawala Junction to Baseline Road, and up to Narahenpita Junction.
Police media spoekspeon ASP Ruwan Gunasekara request the motorists to use alternative roads during this period.
