Estate owners demands 660 rupees per kilo gram of tea to pay 1000 rupees daily wage for estate workers

The Planters’ Association states that the daily wage of an estate worker could be increased upto 1000 rupees if the price of a kilogram of tea is increased upto 660 rupees at the Colombo Tea Auction.

Planters’ Association President Roshan Rajathurai told our news team that the current auction price of a kilogram of tea is 360 rupees.

The trade union action, which has been launched by estate workers demanding the increase of their daily wage upto 1000 rupees completes 8 days today.

Rajathurai further said that a daily loss of 120 million rupees is caused due to the go slow trade union action by estate workers.
