Leader of Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Dinesh Gunawardena stated that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been appointed as the Chairperson of the UPFA election steering committee today.

He stated this while addressing the media, following a UPFA party leaders’ meeting convened today.

However, President Maithripala Sirisena making a special statement yesterday stated that former President cannot win the upcoming General Election.

He further stated that Mahinda’s losing streak will continue adding that he was totally against giving nominations to Mahinda.

 

Elaborating further, the President stated that, if UPFA win the forthcoming General Election, the party has many suitable senior candidates to be appointed for the post of Prime Minister.
