The Colombo District Court issued an enjoining order today preventing the calling for a SLFP central working committee meeting without the approval of party leader President Maithripala Sirisena.

District Judge Harsha Sethunga issued the enjoining order after considering a petition filed by a central working committee member.

A spokesman from the SLFP headquarters announced this morning, that an emergency central working committee meeting was scheduled to be held tonight at the Foundation Institute.  

The same spokesman informed later that the scheduled meeting was cancelled on the orders of the President.

However, SLFP National Organizer Susil Premajayantha told Journalists at the SLFP headquarters this morning that the central working committee meeting would be held at 8pm.

At the same time, SLFP General Secretary Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, who was present at the SLFP headquarters this morning said that he has received letters with the signatures of one third of members demanding to hold the central working committee meeting.
