JVP files a petition with Human Rights Commission against former President Mahinda

JVP Kurunegala District candidate Namal Karunarathna filed a petition today with the Human Rights Commission against former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Karunarathna, in his petition stated that the human rights of other candidates of the district have been violated as former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has been provided special privileges.

Meanwhile, a fundamental rights case was filed with the Supreme Court today citing that providing massive privileges including vehicles and security to former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has violated the fundamental rights of other candidates.

This petition was filed by a national list candidate of Nava Samasamaja Party Senaka Perera.

Senaka Perera, in his fundamental rights petition named 7 persons including the Election Commissioner, the IGP and the Defence Secretary as respondents.
