The Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says that public grounds and meetings halls of returning officers would be taken into custody if such places are hired to a particular political party.

He further said that such public venues should be made available to all political parties in a fair manner to enable them to conduct their campaign activities.

Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya stated that he has already informed local government authorities not to reserve such places for other commercial or public events such as exhibitions.
