Western Provincial council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranathunga and his wife report to FCID
The Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife Morin Ranatunga reported to the FCID this morning in order to record a statement in connection with a land misappropriation.
The allegation against the couple is threatening a person demanding 64 million rupees for reclamation of a land at Meethotamulla in Kolonnawa.
The Chief Minister, his wife and two other persons were summoned by the FCID to give a statement in connection with this complaint on July 9th.
However they did not report to the FCID on that day.
Consequently, the FCID informed his absence to give a statement to Colombo Fort Magistrate, and, later court ordered the couple to appear before court on July 14th.
The court released the duo on a 50 thousand rupees bail and ordered them to report to the FCID today.
Meanwhile, Prasanna Ranatunga filed a fundamental rights case requesting the Supreme Court to prevent the FCID from arresting him.
