Residents of Koswatta, Ekala in Ja-Ela charged that a group of supporters of Minister Joseph Michael Perera assaulted another group of supporters of Minister John Amaratunga.
The residents said that a group of people arrived in a van last afternoon and began to assault saying that they are supporters of Minister Joseph Michael Perera.
When our news team contacted Minister Joseph Michael Perera, he said that the two groups have clashed over a personal grudge.
Meanwhile, a convention of the All Ceylon Samurdhi Development and Agricultural Research Production Assistant Officers Association was held at Battaramulla today.
Secretary of the Samurdhi Development Officers’ Association - affiliated to the JVP – Chamara Maddumakaluge accused that holding of this convention has violated the election law.
He also stated that they have lodged a complaint regarding the matter to the Samurdhi Director General today.
Meanwhile, PAFFREL Organization states that it has received 219 complaints with regard to the election so far.
The Executive Director of the Organization Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that 17 out of them are in connection with violent incidents, while 51 have been reported concerning the misuse of state power and state property.
In addition, he also stated that 84 incidents have been reported with regard to illegal propaganda.
