Police submit a report to AG on 3 candidates who conducted parades on the final day of nominations
The investigation reports over the parades conducted on the last day of nominations, were handed over today to the Attorney General.
Police Media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said 3 incidents from Kandy, one incident each from Gampaha and Avissawella were reported.
Police Media Spokesman also stated that legal action would be taken against the candidates who organized such political parades.
Meanwhile, Paffrel Organization stated that it has received 281 election related complaints.
Addressing a media conference held in Colombo today, Paffrel Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that there is a decline in election related violence in comparison to the previous pre-election periods.
He further said that nearly 2,500 independent groups are contesting the August 17th General election, and most of them have given nominations with the anticipation of supporting main political parties.
