Restraining Order against COPE subcommittee report on Treasury bond issue lifted

The Colombo district court permitted the request by the petitioner to lift the restraining order against the COPE subcommittee report on Central Bank Treasury bond issue today.

The restraining order was issued on July 16th preventing the release or the publishing of the COPE subcommittee report after considering a petition filed by former UNP MP and COPE subcommittee member.

The petition was taken before Colombo District Judge Sumith Perera today.

Lawyers appeared for the respondent party told the court that the petitioner is no longer a parliamentarian therefore there are no provisions to further continue the case.
