Hearing of Matale Mass grave case suspended
The court has decided to suspend the case with regard to Matale mass grave until recommendations are produced by the Attorney General or a senior police officer.
This decision was taken today when the case was called before Matale Magistrate Sampath Gamage.
However, the lawyers appeared for the victims said that they would appeal the case to the High Court.
The CID was supposed to inform the Magistrate today whether any crime had been committed with regard to the Matale mass grave incident.
However, the CID informed court today that they want to seek attorney general’s advice in connection with the matter, and request the magistrate to postpone the case.
As the plaintiffs did not show objections, the magistrate suspended hearing of the case until a proper recommendation is received.
