Student hospitalized after a teacher in Ampara assaults
It was reported to our news team regarding a student of Hinidurawa Junior School in Uhana, Ampara being hospitalized after he was assaulted by a teacher of the same school.
The incident occurred when the relevant teacher came to settle a clash between two students, where the victim, Shiran Isuru in Grade 10 tried to assault a schoolmate.
The teacher has assaulted both students to settle the matter.
Speaking to our news team, the student Shiran Isuru’s mother Chamila Priyani stated that following the incident her son received injuries to his ear drum and was admitted to Ampara Hospital.
The incident took place on the 16th of this month, and the student was admitted to the hospital 5 days later.
A spokesman of Ampara Hospital stated that the student who was receiving in-house treatment was discharged from the hospital today.
Our news team made several attempts to contact the accused Science teacher, however, our attempts were futile.
However, the Police stated that a complaint was received concerning the matter and an investigation is currently underway.
