Barrel containing explosives found near Katunayake Air Force camp, suspected to be on board the light aircraft shot down by army
A plastic barrel containing explosives was found in a drain near Katunayake Air Force camp yesterday.
A person who was clearing the area had first discovered them and informed the Air Force camp.
Air Force media spokesman Wing Commander Gihan Seneviratne stated that measures have been taken to diffuse the explosives.
The LTTE light aircraft which entered Colombo in 2009 was shot down by the Air Force in the same area where the explosives were found.
Accordingly, the air force media spokesman stated that they suspect whether the explosives were on board this aircraft.
