Open University students march from Nawala to Colombo disregarding court order

The Open University students held a protest march from Navala to University grants Commission this afternoon based on several demands including the reduction of course fees.

The protest march was carried out disregarding the court order issued by the Nugegoda Chief Magistrate, and heavy traffic was reported in the area due to the protest march on High level road.

Ward Place was closed with road barrier when the students reached there, and police allowed 10 student representatives to meet University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Mohan de Silva.

Accordingly, a discussion between the students and the university authorities are currently being held at the Grants Commission.
