Number of party representatives to enter counting centres increased #GenElecSL
IGP N.K. Ilangakoon is confident of arresting the suspects who opened fire on a group of UNP supporters at Kotahena.
The IGP stated this during a discussion with the election commissioner at his office this morning,
Representatives of political parties that contesting the forthcoming general election and election monitoring organizations also participated in this meeting today.
Two lawyers participated in the discussion on behalf of UNP while former MP M.A. Sumandiran participated representing the TNA.
UPFA representative and former minister Dilan Perera expressed his views after the discussion.
Meanwhile, election monitoring organizations stated that postal voting was held peacefully today.
Police officers, circuit and divisional education officials and teachers are permitted to cast their vote today.
Other government officials have been facilitated to cast their vote on August 5th and 6th.
At the same time, officials attached to the Election Department and District Secretariats could cast their vote on August 8th.
