Alliance supporters obstruct the duties of an assistant election Commissioner
The police have initiated investigation to arrest a group of UPFA supporters who disrupted the duty of a Batticaloa assistant election commissioner at Kaththankudi.
A Women convention was organized by a deputy minister of the previous government and an alliance candidate represent the Batticaloa district.
It was held at a Cultural Centre in the area yesterday.
Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera stated that the organizer of this event has distributed among the participants parcels of goods which carried his name, preferential number and the party symbol.
On a tip-off, Batticaloa district assistant election commissioner accompanied the Kaththankudi police visited the venue, and at that point, a group of supporters of the alliance candidate have interrupted the duty of the election officer.
