Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that persons going about in public places with party symbols and preferential numbers visibly engraved on their bodies or marked on their head aiming to promote political parties would be arrested.

Accordingly the police media spokesman said further that by now police stations have been instructed to produce persons thus arrested before court immediately after arrest.

Meanwhile, the election secretariat states that 882 election related complaints have been received.

Majority of the complaints are with regard to posters and cut outs.

The highest number of violent incidents are reported from the Rathnapura district.
