UN Spokesman elaborates on UN provisions to support reconciliation and peace in SL
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric stated that it has decided to increase the provisions to build peace and reconciliation in Sri Lanka.
Addressing the daily media briefing convened at UN Headquarters in New York, he said that providing financial and technical grants would help establishing peace in the country.
Stephane also said that a special fund would be established to utilize such funds for the process.
The UN Spokesman further said that the special fund would be disbursed for the sectors of reconciliation, resettlement and strengthening law.
Meanwhile, a journalist raised a question about the UN Human Rights report on Sri Lanka during the media briefing held to inform the Cabinet decisions today.
The UN report on Sri Lanka is scheduled to be presented in Geneva in next September.
