The police have arrested a suspect and seized 188 voting cards and 36 voter lists from a Salon of Lucky land estate at Haputalewela in Uva Paranagama Badulla.

The 37-year old suspect who was arrested yesterday is scheduled to be produced before Court today.

Police investigations found that the voting cards have been handed over to the post office for delivery.

When our news team enquired about this matter from Post Master General Rohana Abeyrathna said that it is not the fault of his department.

He also said that the post office has delivered the voting cards to their owners, and the owners have kept their voting cards in this Salon for safety.

Meanwhile, the postmaster general said that 9 million voting cards have already been delivered.

He said August 16th has been declared a special delivery date, and delivery of all voting cards would be concluded on August 10th.

He also said, if a voter, for some or other reasons, would not receive his or her voting card, such persons could prove their identity to the nearest post office and receive the voting card.
