A special media briefing was convened in Colombo today under the patronage of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and with the participation of several UPFA leaders.

At that time, a journalist raised a question from the former President, asking if he provided funds to the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran during the 2005 Presidential election.

In response, former President stated that if he funded the tigers, it would not be possible to end the tiger terrorism in 3 years, adding that all leaders who were close to them were assassinated by them.

Responding to a journalist who questioned the former President how they would find provisions to meet the pledges made in the UPFA manifesto, he stated that when he provided a fertilizer bag for Rs. 350, they declared that he was in possession of Aladdin’s lamp.

He also stated that the development which his regime continued until the 9th was halted after 9th, adding that now the underworld has returned while the investors have left.

A journalist also enquired from the former President regarding the allegations made against his family in connection with the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, where the former President stated that an independent investigation should be conducted and the truth should be revealed to the public.

Meanwhile, questions were raised regarding the allegations made by Advisor of SLFP and former President Chandrika Bandaranaike against the former President Rajapaksa.

At that time UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha also joined the former President, and stated that former President Chandrika has made allegations since 2005 Presidential election, as she had indirectly supported the UNP.
