Former security forces member and a rehabilitated LTTE member arrested in connection with the disappearance of journalist Eknaligoda
Two persons have been arrested by the CID with regard to the disappearance of Journalist Prageeth Eknaligoda.
Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today, ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a retired army Sergeant Major and a rehabilitated former LTTE member have been arrested in connection to the disappearance of the journalist.
Meanwhile, Police Media Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that 5 suspects in connection with the shooting at a group of supporters of Minister Ravi Karunanayake in Kotahena on July 31st have been arrested.
He also said that the suspects who have direct connection to the incident are still at large. It is revealed that the hybrid motor vehicle used by the assailants have been hired through a third person from rent a car company in Wellampitiya.
Two persons including a woman were killed and 11 others were injured when an unidentified armed gang opened fire at a group of supporters of Minister Ravi Karunanayake in Kotahena on July 31st.
