State celebrations barred for politicians till end of elections
The Election Commissioner has barred politicians from participating in State Celebrations from today till end of elections.
Accordingly no candidate is permitted to participate in State functions like foundation stone laying for new projects of provincial council or local government bodies or handing over completed projects for people’s use.
The Election Commissioner has informed State institution heads not to get any candidate contesting at the election or provincial council or local government representative to participate in such functions.
Similarly reports say that the Election Commissioner has in writing informed ministry secretaries, provincial council chief secretaries, Government Agents, provincial council ministry secretaries and State institution heads that it is illegal to solicit politicians’ participation in public or religious functions organized by State Institutions.
Meanwhile a few hours have been set apart today as well for State employees who could not cast their postal vote.
Accordingly Additional Election Commissioner M. M. Mohamed told our news team that postal vote could be cast between 8. 30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. today.
