Pelmadulla Magistrate Dinesh Lakmal Perera dismissed former deputy minister Premalal Jayasekera’s plea to allow him to cast his vote in the forthcoming general election.

Premalal Jayasekara is currently in remand in connection with a murder of a political opponent.

The Magistrate stated that there is no prologue similar to this incident therefore special action cannot be followed in order to grant such rights to a suspect currently in remand custody.

Former deputy minister Premalal Jayasekera is also a UPFA candidate in the forthcoming general election.
