Mahinda Rajapaksa replies to President Maithripla Sirisena’s letter
The former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has replied today to the letter he received from President Maithreepala Sirisena yesterday.
He stated in his reply that the letter dated yesterday is contained of some unfounded allegations which are based on the information provided by another faction.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa further stated in his reply that he is happy to see the president mentioning in his letter that the UPFA would secure a majority in the forthcoming general election.
The former president also stated that he left Temple Trees even before the release of the presidential election results were concluded, and handed over the party chair to the president at his request.
At the same time, former president Rajapaksa stated in his letter that he anticipates the president would honor the people’s mandate after the August 17th general election in the same manner he did on January 9th.
