The SLFP membership of Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Susil Premajayantha has also been suspended.

Letters informing them of this decision have been sent to them with the signatures of the Chairman of the SLFP President Maithripala Sirisena.

Accordingly Minister Duminda Dissanayake has been appointed as the Acting General Secretary of the SLFP while former minister Professor Vishwa Warnapala has been appointed as the General Secretary of the UPFA.

The letters sent to Susil Premajayantha and Anura Priyadharshana Yapa says that they have reportedly been acting against the reputation and sustainability of the party.

President Sirisena had also stated that they have been siding with groups acting against the Party leadership.

The matter has also been conveyed to the SLFP Executive Committee and Elections Commissioner.

A restraining order preventing Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Susil Premajayantha from functioning as General Secretaries of the SLFP and the UPFA respectively was issued yesterday by the Colombo District Court.

The restraining order was issued after considering two petitions filed by Minister Duminda Dissanayake and Professor Vishwa Warnapala.

Professor Vishwa Warnapala said that he has been a member of the SLFP for the last 40 years, and he accepted the position offered by the President.

Meanwhile, SLFP Deputy Chairman Janaka Bandara Thennakoon stated that they would take action if the decisions to remove the General Secretaries of the SLFP and UPFA are not reversed.

However a member of UPFA lawyers association Sagara Kariyawasam told our news team the new appointments are illegal.
