5 murders occur in separate areas

Police state that 5 murders were reported from several areas in the island.

Among them, one was reported from M.C.S Road area in Walachchena.

A 35 year old person from Ottamawadi area was shot dead by an unidentified person who arrived in a motor cycle yesterday.

In addition, a 36 year old person from Ambalantota was murdered at Oluwila area in Ambalanthota.

The murder took place when an argument between the victim and another person aggravated.

Another person was killed in Ambuldeniya, Madiwela after being attacked with a sharp object last evening.

The incident occurred due to a family dispute which led to the death of a 47 year old person.

Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder.

Meanwhile, a person was murdered with an iron rod inside a house in Hanetiyana area in Dambagalle last evening.

The victim is a 50 year old person from the same area.

Yet another murder incident took place in Neluwa Police division on Morawaka road at Lellwala where the body of a 63 year old person was found by the police with cut wounds this morning.

The reason for the murder or the suspect has not been uncovered so far.

However, Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara further stated that the 5 murder cases were not related to the election.
