The election monitors stated that the 2015 General Election is the most peaceful poll that has ever been held in the recent past.

Paffrel Executive Director Rohana Hettiarachchi stated that although his organization received 120 complaints today, none of them was strong enough to influence the election.

Meanwhile, election violence monitoring center has convened a media conference in Colombo this afternoon.  Addressing the media, Manjula Gajanayake said that his organization received 294 complaints and 198 among them are minor incidents

Meanwhile, 35 persons were arrested throughout the country for violating election law.  Former Chairman of the Puttalam Pradeshiya Sabha and two other persons were arrested by police while they were distributing hand bills of a candidate in front of the Mundalama Sinhala Maha Vidyalaya.

In addition, police have arrested two brothers of a candidate while they were distributing campaign cards bearing their party symbol and a preferential number at a polling center of Dombemada Junior School in Rambukkana this morning.
