Our correspondents reported that counting of postal votes is being carried out at the counting centres with diligence.

Counting of postal votes in Kandy District is taking place at the counting centre established at Polgolla Model School.

However, our correspondent stated that due to the prevailing adverse weather affecting the area, there is a delay in transporting the ballot boxes.

Counting of postal votes has commenced in Matara District by now.

Meanwhile, Police media spokesman's office stated that a police constable was admitted to hospital with injuries when a cab transporting ballot boxes from Thalalla area in Dikwella, Matara to Medawatta Technical College veered off the road and overturned.
