Nimal, Susil, John and Anura Yapa absent in former President Mahinda’s fellowship
Several SLFP seniors of the party frontline have not participated in the fellowship held in Colombo today with the participation of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Nimal Siripala de Silva, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and John Seneviratne were among the absentees in the fellowship event which was held at the official residence of Western Provincial Council Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunga.
About 60 UPFA MPs who pledged support to the former President participated in the event.
During the event, the majority voiced that no support should be given to form a national government.
Certain MPs have proposed to appoint former President Rajapaksa as the Opposition Leader.
However, certain leaders have pointed out that Rajapaksa should uphold the honour of his former President position.
The former President who thanked those who made commitment towards the UPFA victory said that he did not work anticipating any positions.
He has also said that he is happy to give leadership to the UPFA to secure 95 seats for the Opposition.
