Friendly relations important to both countries: Chinese Premier extends his wishes to the new Prime Minister
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang congratulated Ranil Wickremesinghe on his swearing-in as Sri Lanka's Prime Minister, saying friendly cooperation is in the fundamental interest of both the countries.
In the message, Li said China and Sri Lanka are good, time-tested friends and partners which, in recent years, have deepened cooperation in a variety of areas, bringing concrete benefits to people of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated her new Sri Lankan counterpart Ranil Wickremesinghe and hoped to work together for strengthening bilateral ties and promoting “peace, progress and prosperity” in the region.
In a message, she also invited the Sri Lankan prime minister to Bangladesh at his convenience, her office said.
Meanwhile the EU Mission stated that they were happy to say that elections took place in a well-organised manner and congratulated the new elected members of the parliament.
