SLFP sources stated that the UNP faction has agreed to the proposals of the SLFP comprising conditions to join a national government.

A committee was appointed during the recently held SLFP Central Working Committee meeting, to prepare a series of proposals comprising conditions to join a national government.

The committee, presided by former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaranatunga, consists of 6 senior members of the SLFP.

Accordingly, a member of the committee told our news team that a discussion was held with the Prime Minister on the 21st with regard to the relevant proposals.

One of the key factors of the proposals is to prevent the complete privatization of state institutes excluding the public-private partnerships.

In addition, the proposals reiterate the sustenance of Free Education, and Health services.

The proposals also say that during the division of ministerial portfolios, the SLFP also should be offered a key ministry.

Furthermore, the relevant committee member told our news team that the proposals also include refraining from committing political vengeance.

However, a final decision has not been taken with regard to the number of Ministerial posts in the national government to be formed.

UNP media spokesman Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told our news team that a final decision will be taken by the party leaders this evening with regard to the matter.
