The Ilangai Arasu Kachchi has also appointed two defeated candidates for their national list MP slots.

TNA former MP M.A. Sumandiran told our news team that Shanthi Sri Skandarajah and Thurai Rathnasingham who were defeated after contesting from the Mulativu and the Trincomalee districts respectively have been appointed to parliament through the party national list.

Ilangai Tamil Arasu Kachchi was allocated two bonus seats according to its results of the 2015 general election.

All three parties including UNP, UPFA and JVP have appointed defeated candidates to parliament through the national list.

UPFA was allocated 12 nationalist seats and 7 out of them were filled with defeated candidates while JVP filled one of its two bonus seats with a defeated candidate.

UNP received 13 bonus seats and one out of the 13 was filled with a defeated candidate.

This particular candidate did not contest under UNP ticket in the general election.

He contested in the general election from the Puttalam district under All Ceylon People’s Congress led by former minister Rishard Badiudeen.
