The discussions between the UNP and the SLFP over the formation of a national government have not been concluded yet.
UNP internal sources stated, under the prevailing circumstances, UNP members would probably be sworn in their ministerial positionstomorrow.
Meanwhile, it is reported that UNP is insisting all the SLFP MPs should support the government in the event some of their MPs accept ministerial portfolios.
However it is reported that SLFP has not responded positively to the proposal of allocating strong ministerial positions, and, under such circumstances, the SLFP seemed to be unsatisfied to accept the given portfolios.
However, UNP General Secretary Kabeer Hashim told the media yesterday that his party is able to form its own government unless the opposition does not become flexible.
Meanwhile, SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake speaking to media near the party headquarters yesterday stated that his party has no issue over the allocation of ministerial portfolios.
In the meantime, SLFP parliamentarian elect Mahinda Amaraweera says that the SLFP and the UNP had not come to a final agreement over the national government scheme even by yesterday.
He said that the party is ready, only to accept ministerial portfolios in a manner in which the country is benefited while not affecting the party as well.
He said otherwise the SLFP would support the government in all favorable matters without joining a national government.
