SLFP Central Committee Meets Again

An SLFP Central Committee meeting will be held tomorrow with President Maitripala Sirisena at the chair.

While earlier too the SLFP Central Committee met after the General Election, the Central Committee had approved forming a National Government with the UNP.

Former Deputy Minister Shantha Bandara appointed newly yesterday to the SLFP Central Committee said that at the discussion held tomorrow, attention would be drawn on the programme of the National Government.

The Cabinet of the new national government to be formed in collaboration with the UNP and the SLFP scheduled to be sworn in, on September 2nd.

After several rounds of deep and cordial discussions, the two parties finally agreed yesterday to form a national government. 

UNP chairman Malik Samarawickrama said both parties made sacrifices to come to the conclusion.

SLFP Leader President Maitripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe had come to an agreement regarding the division of minister portfolios between the two parties.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera representing the SLFP stated that the UNP will receive 30 portfolios and the SLFP 15.
