The political sources stated that subjects of several former ministers have been changed in allocating ministry portfolios of the new government.
Accordingly, it is reported that new faces have been selected to run the subjects of Law and Order, Power and Energy, Media, Home Affairs, Land and Highways.
The same sources disclosed that several new ministries have been added to the Cabinet of the new government.
The Cabinet of the new government is scheduled to be sworn in on September 2nd.
MP elect Mahinda Amaraweera said that 30 ministries have been allocated for the UNP while 15 ministries have been billed for the SLFP.
Accordingly, SLFP ministry slots would include Higher Education, Agriculture, Irrigation, Petroleum, Samurdhi and Fisheries.
The sources also stated that former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake would receive the same ministry but Banking and financial service sector have been removed from the Finance Ministry and brought under the purview of another ministry.
A new ministry under the name of Urban Development and Megapolis has been set up and MP elect Patali Champika Ranawaka is to be picked to run that new ministry.
Ministries of Housing and Construction, Education, Ports and Shipping as well as Health will be offered to the MPs Sajith Premadasa, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Arjuna Ranatunga and Rajitha Senaratne respectively.
In addition, sources have revealed that former Minister Palani Digambaram will be sworn in again as the Minister of Estate Infrastructure.
It is also reported that M.K.D.S. Gunawardena will be sworn in as the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Gayantha Karunaratne as Minister of Plantation Industries, John Amaratunga as Minister of Power and Lakshman Kiriella as Minister of Highways will be sworn in respectively.
In addition, political sources revealed that MPs Harin Fernando and Vajira Abeywardena who were re-elected to Parliament and MP S.B. Nawinna who joined the UNP prior to the General Election will be offered cabinet ministerial portfolios.
