Sandhya Ekneligoda, the wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda, says that orders have not been issued for the continued detention of the suspects of her husband’s disappearance. She made this statement at a media briefing held yesterday (27th) by the Free Media Movement.

In response to our inquiry in connection to this statement, Police Media Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the CID had requested the Defense Ministry on last 25th, to issue orders for the continued detention of the suspects of the Prageeth Ekneligoda’s case.

The Equal Convener of the Citizen Power Organization, Saman Rathnapriya further said that MP Arundika Fernando and former Chief Justice Mohan Peiris had misled the judiciary with the statements they made on behalf of the Ekneligoda incident.
