A communiqué signed by Chairman of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption Jagath Balapatambendi and two other commissioners stated that this is consequent to the intervention of the Director General of the Bribery Commission.
One allegation is that the Commission’s rejection of 50 police officers who were attached to the Commission. Having given 6 reasons to reject them, the Bribery Commission stated the relevant police officers were sent back as they were not fitting to the job.
HOwver a group of UNP MPs requested the Prime Minister to form a new institution under the UN Charter to probe past corruption as the Bribery Commission has become inefficient.
