The Foreign Ministry states that United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein has no plan to visit Sri Lanka before the Geneva sessions to be held next September.

Foreign Minister media spokesperson Maheshi Kolonne told our news team the new UN High Commissioner for Human rights was invited to visit Sri Lanka last February.

Although he accepted the invitation, his itinerary has not yet been given.

She also said that the High Commissioner’s visit was however delayed due to the recent general election.

Rejecting certain media reports about a visit to the country by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Kolonne said that the Commissioner has not scheduled a date to visit the island before September 14th.
