Police media spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara stated that the arrested suspects aged 31 and 34 are residents of Minuwangoda and Colombo 12 areas respectively.
It has been revealed that a printing company in Gunasinhapura which belongs to the second suspect had printed the bogus stamps.
513 envelopes pasted with 3 fake stamps each worth Rs. 15 were discovered at Nittambuwa Post office on the 25th of this month.
The total value of these stamps amounts to Rs. 23,085.
It was the first time in the country’s history that a stock of counterfeit postage stamps has been discovered.
