Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that all measures taken by the government will be in accordance with the parliament’s consent.  

He stated this while engaging in an inspection tour for planning Colombo City this evening.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe toured several streets around Colombo Fort and observed the condition of the buildings and constructions in the area.

Later addressing the media, the Prime Minister stated that it is compulsory to obtain parliament’s consent to increase number of ministers under the national government.

Accordingly, he stated that the relevant proposal will be presented to parliament on the 3rd of September.

Expressing his views regarding the inspection tour in Colombo city, the Prime Minister stated that he has instructed to stop all constructions that would harm the city’s ancient structures.
