Seems No Sri Lankan Affected by Saudi Fire; Special Contact
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia states that no details have been received so far whether any Sri Lankans were affected in the fire which broke out in an expatriates’ housing complex in Khobar city.
A team led by Sri Lankan Consular General in Saudi Arabia V.W.M.P.K.T. Hettiarachchi has already visited Khobar to initiate an investigation into the incident.
The Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia stated that the Embassy team expects to visit the hospital where the fire victims are receiving treatment.
However the Embassy further said that the Sri Lankan inspection team would find it difficult to enter the hospital because the entry is allowed only to the employees of the Aramco oil company which is also the owners of the ill-fated housing complex.
