Former Chief of Sri Lanka Army Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka stated that the intervention of the Attorney General to protect the persons involved in terrorist acts is problematic.

He stated this in response to a statement made by the Deputy Solicitor General while appearing on behalf of the Department of Attorney General while providing facts to the court during a hearing of a case filed by the JVP at the Court of Appeal yesterday.

The case, which was filed by JVP requesting the appeal court to arrest a former LTTE international leader Kumaran Padmanadan alias KP, was postponed until 28th of October.

The case was postponed after Deputy Solicitor General informed the court that sufficient charges have not been found against KP through the investigations conducted so far.

Appearing on behalf of the Solicitor General, the Deputy Solicitor General further informed the court that investigations would be continued with regard to the charges, and the relevant report would be submitted to the court during the next hearing.
